FOLLOWING YEARS OF DEMAND, we are now making a number of Trans-Provence race trails highly accessible to independent mountain bike tourists who visit Sospel. It's taken some time but we have devised a self-guide concept and sourced some kick-ass MTB accommodation for you. What's more, the best shuttle operation in the business, Cool Bus, has set up a Maritime Alps outpost. As such, you now have all the necessary elements at your fingertips to plan and effectuate your own perfect Sospel MTB trip, and ride several current and past Trans-Provence stages (plus dozens of other awesome trails in the area!) at any time of year.
LOCATION. Sospel is a small medieval town nestled in a lush valley at the very Southern tip of the French Alps, just one mountain ridge inland from the Mediterranean Sea. It is also Trans-Provence HQ, and a key stopping point between Days 5 and 6 of the race itinerary.

Thanks to the epic geography, intricate valleys, and a very rich agricultural past in this part of the World, the trails here are big in scale and bigger in number. The singletrack is varied in terms of trail surface but, thanks to the warmth of a Mediterranean climate, Sospel's riding is truly year round.

SELF GUIDE. Sospel's huge natural trail network is a goldmine, but a complex one! To ensure that you are able to self-guide all of the best stuff in the area during your stay, we have carefully devised a system of 11 trailheads and 26 generally-descending "Enduro" itineraries which works seamlessly with a van-and-trailer shuttle service. Comprehensive information for each of the 26 itineraries is made available in the following user friendly formats:
SHUTTLES. The trail info system is being set up so that you can find your own way on the trails. However, this is big mountain riding and to get the most from your time here you'll want to be descending 3000-5000 vertical metres per day which means that you MUST book a shuttle service to transport you to the trailheads. Cool Bus provide tailored shuttles to specific drop points, working seamlessly with our ride itinerary setup. They do so at the very competitive price of €45/person/day. Also check them out for airport transfers from/to Nice (50 minutes away). Email firstname.lastname@example.org (or call +33 604 505 464) for more information
ACCOMMODATION. Sospel and the Bévéra Valley enjoy 300 good weather days per year and to help you enjoy this we've set up a plush villa on the "also-sunny-in-Winter" side of the valley.
Villa Casoni is a spacious house, entirely renovated in 2017 and currently the only establishment in Sospel designed specifically as ride-in-ride-out holiday base for mountain biking.
With capacity to house 6 adults (or 4 adults and 4 children) comfortably, the villa is packed with features geared toward a well-planned, hassle-free and comfortable stay in Sospel, whether you are a group of hardcore ride-all-day MTBers or more of a family group wanting also to discover the alternative activities that the valley has to offer. The villa is situated on a quiet hillside just 7 minutes' walk / 3 minutes's ride from the village.
