A YEAR OF RACE ITINERARIES IN A WEEK

THE 1001 ENDURO SERIES TOUR

New for 2015, we're very happy to announce this absolutely exclusive tour, the first of its type anywhere (and we're running it for ONE WEEK ONLY!)...

Description

Taking place in the true birthplace of Enduro mountain bike racing, the 1001 Enduro Series is THE annual, season-long MTB Enduro championship of the hallowed French Maritime Alps, and was in fact one of World's first Enduro series. For a decade, the 1001 Series has sent participants racing on superb singletrack at various exotic locations in France's South-Eastern corner. Dozens of races, hundreds of special stages, mythical spots and iconic riders, all of which constitutes a very significant chapter in Enduro mountain biking's history...

On the exclusive and one-off 1001 Enduro Series Tour, you'll have the opportunity to experience the elements of this story first-hand and take in the best of the above series, compressed into just one week. Enjoy six days of guided riding on a huge selection of trails that host these legendary races, prepared just for you by 1001sentiers and Trans-Provence. Experience the incredible variety of real mountain terrain combined with the creativity used by the different race organisers equating to a delightful smorgasbord of World-class singletrack descents to be savoured.
A bike trip on race itineraries... set up to provide pure fun and trail enjoyment, in big quantities. What better way to have an awesome week of mountain biking in the Southern Alps?!

Staff on the tour are:
- Greg Germain, Maritime Alps trail guru, founding director of the 1001 Enduro Series, established 2007.
- Ash Smith, founding director of Trans-Provence, a World-renowned week-long standalone Enduro race in the Maritime Alps region, established 2009.

Difficulty

Physical: we will do a mixture of shuttles and pedalling up. Moderate-to-good fitness will be required with on-bike ascent being 1000-1200m vertical per day (descent will be considerably more!). However, that effort can be fairly slow as you are not racing uphill, so it's stamina that's the key, not power.
Technical: the descents are generally long, and technically challenging, but not "extreme". Some Special Stages contain tricky sections, but you won't be racing so these can be pre-analysed and don't need to be taken at speed.

Accommodation and Catering

Over the course of the week will stay in a small handful of locations to give us good access to the various daily itineraries; all of the nightly stays will be at quality establishments providing comfortable accommodation and good, plentiful food.
